      • One can recognize, there are no good studies investigating infertility after treatment for cervical dysplasia, but there is some evidence of increased risk of preterm obstetrical delivery among pregnant (i.e., gravid) women. Infertility is the inability to produce children.

      • It would seem to be apparant that, without treatment, thirty - 50% of cases of severe cervical dysplasia progress to invasive cancer. Invasive cancer, cancer that has spread beyond the layer (i.e., panniculus) of tissue in which it developed and is growing into surrounding, healthy tissues. Also called infiltrating cancer.

      • It seems that, surgical removal of abnormal tissue is still the treatment of choice for cervical dysplasia. Tissue is a group or layer of cells that work together to perform a specific function. Abnormal, not normal. Describes a state, condition, or behavior that is unusual or different from what is considered normal. An abnormal lesion or growth in or on the body may be benign (not cancer), precancerous (i.e., premalignant) or premalignant (i.e., precancerous) (likely to become cancer), or malignant (cancer).
