Preview- It would seem to be apparant that, the type of cancer that develops in the cortex of the adrenal gland is called adrenal cortical (or adrenocortical) carcinoma. Adrenocortical, having to do with or made by the outer layer (i.e., panniculus) of the adrenal gland, which produces steroid hormones. There is an adrenal gland on top of each kidney.
