Preview- It would seem to be apparant that, the type of cancer that develops in the cortex of the adrenal gland is called adrenal cortical (or adrenocortical) carcinoma. Adrenocortical, having to do with or made by the outer layer (i.e., panniculus) of the adrenal gland, which produces steroid hormones. There is an adrenal gland on top of each kidney.
- It`s possible to observe, this test, which is still being studied, is useful for finding cancer that has spread beyond the adrenal
glands.
It would appear that, adrenocortical carcinoma is a cancer that originates in the cortex of the adrenal gland. Adrenocortical carcinoma is a rare cancer that forms in the outer layer of tissue of the adrenal gland (a small organ on top of each kidney that makes steroid hormones, adrenaline, and noradrenaline to control heart rate, blood pressure, and other body functions). Also called adrenocortical cancer and cancer of the adrenal cortex (i.e., cortex of suprarenal gland (i.e., glandula suprarenalis, or adrenal body)).
