    1. cancer cell proliferation

Cell proliferation is an increase in the number of cells as a result of cell growth and cell division. Cell is the individual unit that makes up the tissues of the body. All living things are made up of one or more cells. Cancer is a term for diseases in which abnormal cells divide without control and can invade nearby tissues. Cancer cells can also spread to other parts of the body through the blood and lymph systems. There are several main types of cancer. Carcinoma is a cancer that begins in the skin or in tissues that line or cover internal organs. Sarcoma is a cancer that begins in bone, cartilage, fat, muscle, blood vessels, or other connective or supportive tissue. Leukemia is a cancer that starts in blood-forming tissue such as the bone marrow, and causes large numbers of abnormal blood cells to be produced and enter the blood. Lymphoma and multiple myeloma are cancers that begin in the cells of the immune system. Central nervous system cancers are cancers that begin in the tissues of the brain and spinal cord. Also called malignancy.

      • One can notice, while the specific chemical(s) responsible for this cancer cell proliferation were not identified in this pilot study, ingestion of endocrine-disrupting and cancer-promoting chemicals from plastics is considered to be a potentially important health concern (Le 2008. Pilot study is the initial study examining a new method or treatment. Chemical is a substance made up of elements, such as hydrogen or sodium. Ingestion, taking into the body by mouth. Endocrine, refers to tissue that makes and releases hormones that travel in the bloodstream and control the actions of other cells or organs. Some examples of endocrine tissues are the pituitary, thyroid, and adrenal glands.

      • It`s possible to presume that, finally, we identified fibroblast growth factor receptor-like 1 (FGFRL1) as a target of mi. R-210 in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma and demonstrated that FGFRL1 accelerates cancer cell proliferation by preventing cell cycle arrest in G1/G0. Squamous cell, flat cell that looks like a fish scale under a microscope. These cells cover inside and outside surfaces of the body. They are found in the tissues that form the surface of the skin, the lining of the hollow organs of the body (such as the bladder, kidney, and uterus), and the passages of the respiratory and digestive tracts. Receptor is a molecule inside or on the surface of a cell that binds to a specific substance and causes a specific effect in the cell. Growth factor is a substance made by the body that functions to regulate cell division and cell survival. Some growth factors are also produced in the laboratory and used in biological therapy. Squamous cell carcinoma, cancer that begins in squamous cells, which are thin, flat cells that look like fish scales. Squamous cells are found in the tissue that forms the surface of the skin, the lining of the hollow organs of the body, and the passages of the respiratory and digestive tracts. Also called epidermoid carcinoma. Cell cycle is the process a cell goes through each time it divides. The cell cycle consists of a series of steps during which the chromosomes and other cell material double to make two copies. The cell then divides into two daughter cells, each receiving one copy of the doubled material. The cell cycle is complete when each daughter cell is surrounded by its own outer membrane. Also called mitotic cycle. Esophageal, having to do with the esophagus, the muscular tube through which food passes from the throat to the stomach. Fibroblast is a connective tissue cell that makes and secretes collagen proteins. Carcinoma, cancer that begins in the skin or in tissues that line or cover internal organs.

      • Apparently, then, cancer cell proliferation was significantly increased (B).
