    1. cancer protein kinase

Kinase is a type of enzyme (a protein that speeds up chemical reactions in the body) that adds chemicals called phosphates to other molecules, such as sugars or proteins. This may cause other molecules in the cell to become either active or inactive. Kinases are a part of many cell processes. Some cancer treatments target certain kinases that are linked to cancer. Protein is a molecule made up of amino acids. Proteins are needed for the body to function properly. They are the basis of body structures, such as skin and hair, and of other substances such as enzymes, cytokines, and antibodies. Cancer is a term for diseases in which abnormal cells divide without control and can invade nearby tissues. Cancer cells can also spread to other parts of the body through the blood and lymph systems. There are several main types of cancer. Carcinoma is a cancer that begins in the skin or in tissues that line or cover internal organs. Sarcoma is a cancer that begins in bone, cartilage, fat, muscle, blood vessels, or other connective or supportive tissue. Leukemia is a cancer that starts in blood-forming tissue such as the bone marrow, and causes large numbers of abnormal blood cells to be produced and enter the blood. Lymphoma and multiple myeloma are cancers that begin in the cells of the immune system. Central nervous system cancers are cancers that begin in the tissues of the brain and spinal cord. Also called malignancy.

      • You can determine, these integrative cancer biology studies are undertaken to provide (a) insights into molecular effects of cancer mutations in protein kinases underlying the biology of cancer; (b) practical benefits to cancer research.

      • One can determine, cancer cells exhibit numerous mutations, many of which are in protein kinase genes, and one challenge is to distinguish which of these mutations are actually responsible for malignant transformation and thus might represent therapeutic targets. Michael Stratton (Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, Hinxton, UK) described how high-throughput sequencing of cancer-cell genomes is being used to construct mutational profiles of human cancers. Therapeutic, having to do with treating disease and helping healing take place. Trust is a legal document in which a person states what is to be done with his or her property after death. There are many types of trusts, and a trust may take the place of a will. Malignant, cancerous. Malignant cells can invade and destroy nearby tissue and spread to other parts of the body. Transformation is in medicine, the change that a normal cell undergoes as it becomes malignant.

      • It might seem to be apparant that, conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) has anti-carcinogenic effects in a variety of cancers including colon cancer. Secondary bile acids on the other hand are known as tumour promoters in colon cancer with effects on protein kinase C (PKC) and nuclear factor kappa B (NF-B) signalling pathways. The aim of this study was to examine acute and chronic, isomer-specific effects of CLA on bile salt-induced PKC and NF-B signal transduction in human colon cancer cells. Protein kinase C is an enzyme found throughout the body`s tissues and organs. Several forms of PKC are involved in many cellular functions. PKC is being studied in the treatment of cancer. Also called PKC. Bile is a fluid made by the liver and stored in the gallbladder. Bile is excreted into the small intestine, where it helps digest fat. Chronic is a disease or condition that persists or progresses over a long period of time. Colon is the longest part of the large intestine, which is a tube-like organ connected to the small intestine at one end and the anus at the other. The colon removes water and some nutrients and electrolytes from partially digested food. The remaining material, solid waste called stool, moves through the colon to the rectum and leaves the body through the anus. PKC is an enzyme found throughout the body`s tissues and organs. Several forms of PKC are involved in many cellular functions. PKC is being studied in the treatment of cancer. Also called protein kinase C. Signal transduction is the process by which a cell responds to substances in its environment. The binding of a substance to a molecule on the surface of a cell causes signals to be passed from one molecule to another inside the cell. These signals can affect many functions of the cell, including cell division and cell death. Cells that have permanent changes in signal transduction molecules may develop into cancer. Isomer, one of two or more compounds that have the same chemical formula but different arrangements of the atoms within the molecules and that may have different physical/chemical properties. Acute, symptoms or signs that begin and worsen quickly; not chronic. Colon cancer, cancer that forms in the tissues of the colon (the longest part of the large intestine). Most colon cancers are adenocarcinomas (cancers that begin in cells that make and release mucus and other fluids). Acid is a chemical that gives off hydrogen ions in water and forms salts by combining with certain metals. Acids have a sour taste and turn certain dyes red. Some acids made by the body, such as gastric acid, can help organs work the way they should. An example of an acid is hydrochloric acid. Acidity is measured on a scale called the pH scale. On this scale, a value of 7 is neutral, and a pH value of less than 7 to 0 shows increasing acidity.
