Preview- One can recognize, monoallelic loss of the essential (i.e., intrinsic) autophagy gene (i.e., factor), Beclin 1, has been found in forty to 75% of human breast (i.e., mamma, or teat), prostate (i.e., prostata, or glandula prostatica), and ovarian cancers (), suggesting that autophagy may play a role in preventing these tumors. Ovarian, having to do with the ovaries, the female reproductive glands in which the ova (eggs) are formed. The ovaries are located in the pelvis, one on each side of the uterus (i.e., metra, or womb). Breast, glandular (i.e., glandulous) organ (i.e., organum, or organon) located on the chest (i.e., pectus). The breast is made up of connective tissue (i.e., interstitial tissue, or supporting tissue), fat (i.e., adipose tissue), and breast tissue that contains the glands that can make milk (i.e., strip, or lac). Also called mammary gland (i.e., glandula mammaria, or lactiferous gland). Gene is the functional and physical unit of heredity passed from parent to offspring. Genes are pieces of DNA, and most genes contain the information for making a specific protein. Prostate is a gland in the male reproductive system (i.e., genital system). The prostate surrounds the part of the urethra (the tube that empties the bladder) just below the bladder, and produces a fluid that forms part of the semen (i.e., seed, or seminal fluid).

It decreases the amount of glucose (a type of refined sugar) released into the bloodstream from the liver (i.e., hepar) and increases the body`s use of the glucose. Metformin is a type of antidiabetic drug agent. Colon is the longest part of the large intestine, which is a tube-like organ connected to the small intestine (i.e., intestinum tenue) at one end and the anus (i.e., anal orifice) at the other. The colon removes water (i.e., aromatic water) and some nutrients and electrolytes from partially digested food. The remaining material, solid waste called stool, moves through the colon to the rectum and leaves the body through the anus.
- It has been found that, upregulation of Beclin one may be a reply to adverse intra-tumoral conditions demanding intensified autophagic activity for cancer cells to recycle proteins and damaged organelles in order to survive.
